Frequently asked questions
How does RingRx work?
RingRx is a full-featured enterprise-class communications solution. This means it works just as well for solo practitioners as it does for large multi-location clinics and hospitals. Even with a single provider or small office, you get all the same benefits and features of a big company.
- Our service works either with conventional deskphones or a mobile app. During the trial, you will use our service through the mobile app.
- The mobile app installs on your smart phone.
- Your service comes along with a phone number (we either get you a new one or we can bring an existing one over from another company).
- When some one calls your number, the RingRx app will ring and you will answer the call on our app.
- If you miss the call, the caller will go to your RingRx voicemail.
- This will be different from your cell phone voice mail
- When you call some one from the RingRx app, your business phone number will be displayed as your caller ID
After you are satisfied with the service, you can sign up permanently anytime. If you would like deskphones, we can ship them out to you after your account has been fully setup.

Can I bring an existing number to RingRx?
Yes you sure can bring a number into RingRx from another phone company. This process is called a “Port” and we do it regularly as part of our service to our customers. We do not charge for porting (most companies do).
After you sign up for a trial or are already have a paid subscription, we are happy to start a port anytime.
To get started porting your number right away, please go here and fill out the form
You can learn more about porting here: Porting your Number to RingRx
How does texting work?
Texting with RingRx is done by SMS (Short Message Service), which is the most common form of texting. SMS permits text characters only and does not permit images, other than emoji characters.
RingRx messaging can be used between two RingRx Users. Messages between two staff in the same organization is completely secure and encrypted. Users can message each other by extension. Messages will arrive from/to the username
RingRx texting can also be used to communicate with a mobile phone number. Inbound messages sent to a number will be routed to the destination in that phone numbers SMS Extension. This means that your administrator can setup many numbers that route back to one user, but that user will only be able to reply as one of them. Texting to mobile phones is not secure, since we are not able to encrypt messages after they leave our system.
Texting can be done in the RingRx mobile app or in the Softphone, which is accessible in the User portal under My Phone
What are the limits on Texting
Texting is unlmited on the Grow and Clinic Plans
What plans include Texting?
Texting is included with the Grow and Clinic plans. Texting is not available with the Lite Plan.
Can I send images via text?
RingRx does not support MMS, which is required to send images. Only text characters and emojis are supported.
SMS Auto Responder
When a phone number routes directly to an end-user that user has the option of configuring auto-responses to their inbound messages as well. When auto-responses are activated, every text you receive will generate an outbound text with the auto-response message.
Texting Campaign Registration (TCR) Basics
All businesses who conduct texting are required to register their campaigns and pay a monthly fee. RingRx will collect this fee and pay it to them on your behalf. You will see the fee on your monthly statement. RingRx is collecting only the amount that has to be paid to the cell phone carriers for this program.
Who Has To Register?
Any customer who plans to send text messages to anyone on a cell phone, the RingRx customer will need to register. If you plan to only use RingRx texting between users of RingRx, then you do not need to register.
Only the Account Admin has to fill out the form. All of your numbers on your account for all Users will automatically be covered by one application. Non-Admin Users will not be able to access the form in our portal
What You Need To Do
If you want to continue texting customers or patients, you MUST register your account. To do so, please log in to your RingRx User portal and go to Settings\Campaign Registry Form, or
REGISTRATION IS NOT INSTANT. Please be advised that once you fill out the form, we submit it to our partners for review. They will then process your application and approve it. We have no control over how long it takes for approval – it can be as quick as half a day or up to several days. Unfortunately, we do not receive updates as to the status of your campaign; and as a result we are not able to update you as to the status. The best route is to complete the application, then test every half day until it starts working. If it is not working for several days after you submitted the form, then open a support ticket at support@ringrx.com.
The information should be pre-filled. If any fields are blank, please complete them to the best of your ability.
How To Fill Out The Form
Company Name: Enter your legal company name. If you are sole proprietor with no formal company name, enter your full name. Do not include any punctuation, like commas, apostrophes, or dashes.
Entity Type: This is the type of company you are. If you have no staff, you are a Sole Proprietor. If you have staff and have filed as an LLC, an S Corp, a C Corp, or any other form of company, you are a Private Company.
EIN: This is your Employee ID Number and is provided to you by the IRS for tax filing purposes. The business name should match whatever is on the tax form or EIN. Do not enter a Social Security Number in this field.
EIN Issuing Country: This defaults to the USA and there are no options for other countries at this time
Vertical: This is the industry you are in, which is most likely Healthcare.
First and Last Name: Provide the First and Last name of the owner of the RingRx account.
Address Info: Provide the physical location of your business. This should be the same address that RingRx has on file for your account.
Website: A website address for your company is required. In the alternative, you will need to provide all of the required documentation in PDF format and upload it as part of your campaign. In the website field, please include a note that the reviewer should see the paper submission for terms and conditions, privacy policy and your call to action (consent to text form). If you do not have these materials on your website or you do not provide the paper copies of your policies, then your application may be rejected
What will you be using texting for: This will most likely be Low Volume Mixed. It is for basic communications with customers, as opposed to large campaigns for marketing, customers support, or sales. Unless you have very specific needs for higher volume texting, this is the most appropriate use.
Sample Message: Just enter a small message that is typical for you. We have pre-suggested one that makes sense for most of our customers. Keep it brief and clear.
Fees
The Text Campaign Registry charges fees for registering and ongoing texting. RingRx passes this fee on to our cusotmers, but does not mark the fee up and we do not charge our own fee for supporting your application at this time. Details about pricing can be found here: Text Campaign Registry Fees
